Usually, I like books that are not a part of a series better, because when the book is over I am not too attached to the characters and my heart doesn't shrivel when I finish the book. Yet, with this book, my heart absolutely shriveled and died when I finished it. I am NOT a crier, but I shed a tear or two when I finished this book.
I LOVED this book, and am seriously considering nominating it my favorite book of all time, because that's how much I liked it. You know when you're reading a book and you get so frustrated because you don't know what the other characters are thinking or how they are reacting to what is happening because the book is told from only one freaking point of view? (Which completely happens to me irl too. I never know what people are thinking and it is so annoying and exasperating, and just ugh. Why can't I read minds or something?) Yeah. That doesn't happen here. The book is told from the point of view of the 4 main characters: Nate, Bronwyn, Addy, and Cooper. We get to experience the dramas happening in every one of these kids lives during the whole mess that is the book. The book is about a kid, Simon, who has a gossip app in which he posts, well... gossip about people in the school he goes to. He, and the other 4 (Nate, Bronwyn, Addy, and Cooper) get stuck in detention because of being caught with phones in their backpack (phones which weren't even theirs by the way). Simon dies during detention and the only people in the room with him were: Nate, Bronwyn, Addy, Cooper, and Mr. Avery. Every one of them is a prime suspect. Every one of them has secrets to hide (except Mr. Avery, nobody cares about Mr. Avery). I mean, the plot itself, is very realistic, and it could totally happen and it's just so well-developed that I could see it all unfolding in my mind while reading. There are so many plot twists, so many unexpected events brought to light during the book, that there is not a point in it in which it is dull, or in which you have to struggle to keep reading. It is just that good. This book is incredibly incredible and I can see why it is a New York Times Bestseller, and I am just absolutely in love with it. I mean I almost bawled because the book was over, how pathetic is that? Anyhow, this book this book is not only recommended, but it is thrust upon all of you who read this review to READ IT. It is an incredible book. I LOVE YOU ALL. I LOVE YOU ALL. I LOVE YOU ALL.
