I started reading this book in preparation for the movie Netflix is releasing tomorrow. I love the idea of the book, the plot, and the character and their personalities; but I didn't like the writing. It kinda felt like it was a rookie author writing the book.
I really like the book – mainly the plot – but I didn't like the writing. It felt like it was written by a rookie author, and the cover? What even? It looks like one of those sexy cheap romance books and even if I kind of didn't like the writing, this book is so much more than that, the characters are so much more than that.
----
Elle is a naive, kind, nice kid, and completely unaware of her beauty. She is honestly the stereotype of what a girl should be. She's everyone's friend, and every guy wants to be with her; except Lee, her best friend since they were born, her Thing One to her Thing Two. And of course, let's not forget about Nate Flynn, Lee's super hot, sexy, bad-ass brother – who Elle absolutely has a crush on.
I laughed so many times, these character are hilarious, and you know when there are characters in a book that you wish you could meet and be friends with? Well, I would love to meet Lee and Elle. This friendship is what I think almost everybody aspires to have in their life.
------
I loved Elle, I really did. I just feel like her naiveté is absolutely overdone (you'll understand what I'm talking about when you read the book). She's too innocent, too pure-minded. I am a prude, I know that. But Elle is another level.
I feel like the arguments that happened in the book are overdramatized and overdone. Often I found myself thinking, why is he so mad ? Why is she still so angry? Drama is always welcome, and with anger always comes the passion underlying that anger (wink, wink), but the drama reaches a point where you say, okay, we get it.
--------
Still, besides that, I really like the book, the idea behind it, and the plot. The characters are wonderful.
Read it.
I LOVE YOU ALL. I LOVE YOU ALL.
